What is Hypnotherapy?

Start deep – go deeper

By working with you at a subconscious level, therapeutic hypnosis can resolve unwelcome thought patterns and habits where they form, unwind those patterns  and thus unwind your mind.

‘Research shows that there is more evidence for Hypnotherapy than any other Complementary Therapy… by using hypnosis people can perform prodigious feats of will power and self healing’. The Health Education Authority

It’s understandable that many people have the wrong idea about hypnosis. What you probably didn’t know is that going into a hypnotic trance is natural – you actually go into trance many times a day!!

  • Have you ever been daydreaming and been unable to hear what someone has been saying?
  • What about driving, talking or changing radio station and finding you have missed your turning or exit?
  • Ever watched a movie and cried in it or been scared by it?
  • Ever been gripped by how a book will end or enthralled with a conversation?

..these are all forms of trance.

Hypnosis itself is a gentle treatment using the natural state of trance to allow access to your subconscious mind. Trance is a similar state to the one achieved through meditation or daydreaming. When we induce this state in you within a therapeutic setting, we are able to access subconscious patterns of behaviour or thought and to resolve issues that lie beyond the capabilities of normal conscious thinking.

The profound state of relaxation and solution-focused awareness provides a context for new insights and understandings which will form with the assistance of your therapist.

Hypnotherapy can help to treat a wide variety of problems and issues, both physical and emotional and research into the mind body connection has been an area of rapid growth over the last few years.

It is this mentally-active yet dream-like state which we use during hypnotherapy that makes it such a potent and powerful tool for change.

Did you know for example that when we day-dream we use four times as much energy as when we are solving a mental arithmetic problem?

The things you wanted to change but felt they were ‘just part of me’ or out of reach, we can help you rewrite the way in which you think about yourself, determine your goals and live life with vitality
